For Ashley is part of a larger work, ASH, by the Sleeping Giant Collective. It is a five-minute solo cello piece that takes inspiration from the prelude to Bach’s 4th Cello Suite. – Andrew Norman

This piece mimics the hypnotic undulations and gradual, incremental harmonic changes that define the Fourth Suite Prelude and substitutes the heavily ornamented cadenza of the original with a moment of meditation and sustained harmonies.
